Information for Students
The Office of University and Community Partnerships (UCP) is dedicated to fostering authentic, sustainable, and rewarding relationships between Drexel students and our surrounding community. UCP offers a wide range of opportunities for students and community members and organizations to work together to address local challenges and achieve real-world impact. We believe civic engagement is experiential learning, significantly enhancing a student's education both inside and outside of the classroom.
UCP’s many participation pathways for Drexel students include support for local K-12 STEAM enrichment, health and wellness education, digital inclusion, economic development and workforce development, legal support, and much more.
Volunteer & Leadership Opportunities
- Volunteering: Individuals and student organizations can get connected to service opportunities and track hours through Drexel Galaxy, our civic engagement database.
- K-12 enrichment: The Lindy Scholars Program supports select student organizations to provide afterschool STEAM enrichment activities to local middle school students.
- Work Study: Become a Drexel Community Collaborator who provides 5-15 hours per week of either direct service or capacity building support to a local non-profit organization.
- Teaching: After completing CIVC 101, Drexel's first-year civic engagement course, students can apply to become a Course Assistant for CIVC 101.
Additional Resources
The Lindy Center for Civic Engagement serves as the front door for Drexel students seeking opportunities for civic engagement. Feel free to visit to learn more about additional pathways for student participation. You can also sign up for the Lindy Center’s biweekly civic engagement newsletter to be alerted to new opportunities.
The Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships hosts a monthly Community Dinner on the second Tuesday of each month. The event is family-friendly, free, and open to all, and we often partner with local organizations to offer additional programming and activities, such as showcasing local artists, coordinating book exchanges, and much more. All Drexel students are welcome to join to break bread with neighbors, build community, and learn more about the different programs and resources available at the Dornsife Center.
Students are also encouraged to explore the over 300 recognized Drexel student organizations, many of which participate in community engagement and impact activities. These organizations are student-led and exist to serve local, national, and international communities. DragonLink, the hub for student organizations includes a virtual bulletin board of student events. Students can search the directory alphabetically, by entering a keyword, or through a variety of categories like “Community Service/Social Action”.
