The Office of University & Community Partnerships encompasses a range of Centers and Initiatives working together to advance Drexel’s commitment to civic engagement. The three Centers each serve a unique role in civic engagement and offer a starting point for distinct audiences:

Our Initiatives

Digital Navigators

The Drexel Digital Navigator program assists the local community with finding low-cost Internet access, basic technical support, refurbished computers, and pathways for attaining digital literacy and skills. Learn More.

Writers Room

Writers Room is Drexel’s university-community literary arts program for creative placemaking, comprised of a diverse, intergenerational collective of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and neighborhood residents. Learn More.

Action for Early Learning (AFEL)

The West Philadelphia Action for Early Learning Initiative (AFEL) is a collaboration of social service and education agencies with community stakeholders working to create an education support system for students and families in the West Philadelphia Promise Zone. Learn More.

Promise Neighborhood

The West Philadelphia Promise Zone is roughly 2 square miles that is bounded by 48th street to the west, the Schuylkill River to the East, Girard Avenue to North and Sansom Street to the south. Drexel recently concluded a US Department of Education-funded Promise Neighborhood project to support new opportunities for children living or attending schools in the Promise Zone. Learn More.
