Signing Into Sitecore
VPN FAQ
Continuing IT's efforts for systems at the university to use Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). The Sitecore CMS login page and editing environment like other university services such as DrexelOne and email, will require MFA as of today January 15, 2020.
Because Sitecore currently uses local accounts rather than single sign-on, access to the Sitecore login page and editing environment will be limited to users connected to the Drexel VPN which currently requires MFA.
Notice of maintenance and major changes is currently sent out to our users via the Sitecore listserv. If you would like to be added/removed from the sitecore listserv please contact the web services team and request addition/removal: websupport@drexel.edu
Frequently Asked Questions
What is VPN?
VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. It typically involves client software on your computer that is used to establish a secure connection between your computer or mobile device and the campus network to grant you access to restricted computing resources at Drexel such as file servers, databases, web sites and other applications.
More information on VPN at Drexel can be found on the IT website
How do I install VPN?
If you do not yet have the VPN software installed on your Drexel computer, please use Software Center (for Windows) or Self Service (for macOS) to get the installer. If you cannot find Software Center or Self Service, point a web browser to vpn.drexel.edu , authenticate, then use the Download link to get the VPN software for your computer.

Do I have to use VPN if I'm on campus?
Yes. VPN is currently required whether on or off campus.
I recently changed my university password. Did that change my Sitecore password?
No. Sitecore is not currently part of the single sign-on system. Changing your password for email/DrexelOne will not affect your Sitecore password.
Common Authentication Issues
Error when connecting - Failed to determine valid temporary folder (Mac)
Read about the fix for this error.
My login/password fail and I am not prompted to enter the 6-digit authenticator code.
Verify your default MFA method. If your default method is an approve notification on your phone you will need to approve the connection for your login to be successful. If you typically bypass this method by asking for a text to be sent you will need to update your default MFA settings.

I have not received the text with my MFA six digit code.
There is sometimes a delay in receiving your authenticator code via text. You can choose to wait a few minutes or change your default authentication method for MFA.
