The Department of Global and International Education (EDGI) in the School of Education is offering the following fully online (ONL) electives during the spring quarter.

EDGI 522: Education for Global Citizenship, Sustainability, and Social Justice
3 credits

How can education protect our planet, develop global citizens, and create sustainable societies? What is climate change education? How has the way we conceptualize climate-oriented education changed over time? What role do politics, culture, and economies play in shaping climate change education? How are the diverse conceptualizations of global citizenship similar and different? How might global citizenship education mediate the tensions between local values and global commitments?

EDGI 534: Conflict Resolution in an International Context
3 credits
How do we think about peace, conflict, and violence in different contexts? What are the root causes and effects of violent conflict at the local, national, and global levels? How can we analyze conflict to establish those root causes? What are constructive and peaceful approaches to resolving conflicts? What role can education play in promoting peace in diverse contexts?
