Visiting Scholars

Hosting visiting scholars at the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design at Drexel University is crucial for fostering a vibrant academic environment. Visiting scholars bring diverse perspectives and industry-specific expertise, enriching the intellectual and creative atmosphere for both students and faculty. Whether through guest lecturing, teaching or through on-campus events, their presence facilitates collaborative research, innovative projects, and cross-disciplinary dialogue, enhancing the college's reputation as a leader in media arts and design education. By integrating fresh insights and global viewpoints, visiting scholars help to inspire and prepare Westphal students for the evolving challenges in today's creative industries.

Westphal hosts visiting scholars in many different ways throughout the academic year. The following are our signature initiatives:

Rankin Scholars-in-Residence

The Rankin Scholars-in-Residence Series, named in honor of former Dean Marjorie Rankin and established through the continuing donations of her friends and colleagues, seeks to bring noted individuals to campus who excel in the multidisciplinary education championed by the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design. The goal of the Series is to inspire students, stimulate research, invigorate professional networks, and aid in the continuing development of the Drexel community.
