Westphal Faculty Receive Awards Recognizing Excellence in Teaching, Creative Activities, Research, and Professional Service

The Office of Research and Innovation and the Office of Faculty Advancement and Undergraduate Affairs announced the recipients of the 2019-20 Research, Scholarship and Creativity Awards and the 2019-20 Provost Awards for Teaching, Scholarship, and Professional Service.

Five Westphal College faculty received recognition from the Office of Research and Innovation and the Office of Faculty Advancement and Undergraduate Affairs for the 2019-20 Research, Scholarship and Creativity Awards and the 2019-20 Provost Awards for Teaching, Scholarship, and Professional Service. These awards recognize and support the ongoing development of our research, scholarship, and creative activities, as well as recognizing excellence in teaching, and professional service.

The following Westphal College faculty received awards:

John Avarese, Associate Teaching Professor

  • Scholarly and Creative Activity Awards
    This award supports scholarly and creative activities of faculty in fields and on projects where limited external funding is available.

Lewis Colburn, MFA, Associate Professor

  • Summer Research for Tenure/Tenure Track Faculty
    This award provides faculty members with the opportunity to pursue research activities that will enhance recipient careers as well as increase their contributions to Drexel.

Rena Cumby, IDEC, Associate Professor

  • Harold M. Meyers Award for Distinguished Service
    This award recognizes an administrator, member of the professional staff, or full-time or part-time faculty member who has engaged in service work that has been recognized to be truly significant to the University.

Jacklynn Niemiec, RA, Assistant Professor

  • Allen Rothwarf Award for Teaching Excellence
    The Allen Rothwarf Award for Teaching Excellence is given to a faculty member at Drexel who exemplifies and coordinates high standards of teaching while developing research in their areas of expertise. The award includes a certificate and a monetary award.
  • Summer Research for Tenure/Tenure Track Faculty
    This award provides faculty members with the opportunity to pursue research activities that will enhance recipient careers as well as increase their contributions to Drexel.

Toby Seay, Professor

  • Scholarly and Creative Activity Awards
    This award supports scholarly and creative activities of faculty in fields and on projects where limited external funding is available.
