Graduating seniors in Drexel University’s photography program spend their final year on campus building a portfolio to showcase what they’ve learned throughout their education, which is turned in as their thesis.

This year was no exception, with eight photography majors completing portfolios of work featuring photos that ranged from portraiture to landscape, commercial to fine art and in color or black and white.

Photography Program Director Paul Runyon notes that the wide range of work represents a core philosophy of the program, which is the premise that photographers today are doing both fine art and applied or commercial work simultaneously.

“The market has changed and we were far ahead of the curve in promoting the merging of those two worlds. It really comes through with this work,” he said.

The students’ work was on display in the Leonard Pearlstein Gallery from June 7–10 this year, with an opening reception June 9. Don’t worry if you missed the event — DrexelNow has included work from some of the students below, with more photos available here.
