NINA RAPPAPORT: DEEP DECORATION/NEW STRUCTURAL DESIGN
An accomplished critic, curator, historian and educator, Nina Rappaport is an important presence in contemporary architecture. She is particularly known for her research on factory design, industrial landscapes and the crucial role of engineers in the creation of innovative modern architecture. In 2007, she published Support and Resist: Structural Engineers and Design Innovation, which profiled the work of fourteen international engineers. She also co-edited the book Ezra Stoller: Photographer (2012). Rappaport has written numerous essays for publications such as Acadia, AD, Arcithese, Architects Newspaper, Architectural Record, Architecture, Praxis, Perspecta, and Metropolis. As the publications director at the Yale School of Architecture, she edits the bi-annual magazine Constructs and other publications. She also directs the project, "Vertical Urban Factory," sponsored with the New York Foundation for the Arts.
