Madrigal Dinner

February 20, 2013

The 23rd Annual Madrigal Dinner will feature wonderful student singers, storytellers, and jesters bedecked in Renaissance attire. The Chamber Singers, a select group of singers under the direction of Dr. Steven Powell, will take the audience back to the year of 1583 for a night of merriment and entertainment featuring instrumentalists, brass fanfares and harpsichord music. This year’s event will include details of the Throckmorten Plot, an effort by the Scots to assassinate Queen Elizabeth. There’s nothing to fear, though, as our hosts will keep the Queen safe.

The performance and dinner will be staged on Friday, February 22nd and Saturday, February 23rd at 7:30 PM in the Great Court of the Main Building (32nd & Chestnut Streets). Dinner/concert tickets must be purchased in advance; Concert-only tickets may be purchased at the door. Following a dinner feast that harkens back to times of yore, the Chamber Singers will delight with madrigals, chansons, ballettas, and lute songs.
Tickets are $21.95 per person and include the Renaissance era feast. Group discounts are available for parties of 10 or more. Click here to purchase tickets. For more information please contact Donald Hunt, Publicity Graduate Assistant, at or call 215.895.1275.
