Thursday, May 31st

Opening Reception at 5:30 with lecture to follow at 6:30

Whoever said ‘you can’t judge a book by its cover’ has never met Chip Kidd. Kidd, one of the world’s most renowned book cover designers, will be a guest of Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design and DART (Drexel Art Organization) on Thursday, May 31. Kidd is an award-winning graphic designer and author who specializes in book cover design with more than 1500 titles created for authors including David Sedaris, Bret Easton Ellis, Cormac McCarthy and John Updike. Most notably, Kidd’s book designs for Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park were carried over into the marketing for the films.

The event on May 31st is free and open to the public in the Papadakis Integrated Science Buildings, Room 120 (33rd & Chestnut Sts.) starting with a 5:30 p.m. reception and Kidd’s lecture at 6:30 p.m. Books authored (and in some cases designed) by Kidd will be available for purchase during the event with a limited number of signed copies available as well.
