Allen Sabinson Appointed Dean of Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design
December 1, 2005
Allen Sabinson has been appointed the dean of the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design. Allen joined CoMAD as the director of the Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies in January, where he has organized many successful projects open to the Drexel community and general public, including screenings and discussions with filmmakers, talks with top entertainment industry professionals, and the recent symposium on the impact of big media. His appointment as dean is effective December 1, 2005.
Serving in executive positions in the film and television industry for the past thirty years, he has commissioned hundreds of movies, television series, documentaries and reality series for A&E, ABC, TNT, NBC, Showtime and Miramax. Under Mr. Sabinson's leadership as senior vice president of programming at A&E, the network received more Emmy nominations for two consecutive years than any other basic cable network. He has also been responsible for the Emmy Award winning Horatio Hornblower films, It's Garry Shandling's Show, Stephen King's It, Sidney Lumet's 100 Centre Street and the Emmy Award winning miniseries Separate But Equal and The Old Testament.
Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design is Drexel's fastest growing college, and Mr. Sabinson is looking forward to sharing his expertise and experience on managing creative endeavors as part of the education that gives CoMAD's students, artists, and creators the skills they need to change, embellish and improve the world.
