Lessons from Electric Lady

Tuesday, October 20, 2026

6:00 PM-8:00 PM

We are excited to announce that John Storyk of WSDG, the designer of Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Lady Studios and our very own Studio One, will be on campus next Tuesday, October 20, from 6 to 8 PM in Stein Auditorium (Nesbitt Hall, 3215 Market Street). He’ll present his talk, Lessons from Electric Lady, about designing studios for the modern workflow. Even as studios get smaller and more flexible, the sound of the room still shapes every aspect of the recording, and John will explain why great acoustics matter as much as ever. Since designing Electric Lady in 1969, John has gone on to design more than 3,000 studios and media facilities around the world and has won thirteen NAMM TEC Awards. Few people have shaped how music is recorded the way he has.
