Dr. Michael Schreffler is a professor at the University of Notre Dame where he specializes in the art and architectural history of early Spanish colonialism in Latin America. His works carefully examine the complex and profound cultural consequences that followed the violent European conquest of Indigenous peoples. In 2023, Dr. Schreffler was awarded the prestigious Spiro Kostof Book Award from The Society of Architectural Historians for his book Cuzco: Incas, Spaniards, and the Making of a Colonial City.
