To further enhance global understanding, students in the Fashion Industry & Merchandising Program are encouraged to immerse themselves in short- or long-term study abroad programs in cities including London, Paris, Florence, Prague, or Seoul. Others choose schools in Australia, Greece, Ireland, Spain and countries in Asia and Africa.
From London, England:
June 17th was my first day of classes at London College of Fashion (LCF) and I had so much fun. The course of the day was called, "Historical and Contemporary Fashion Research Studies," and it lasted the entire day.
After the lectures and mini activity we were split up into groups of three to go on a scavenger hunt throughout the city. I love how interactive this class is, since it teaches us street smart and real life experiences, rather than just sticking to lectures and readings. We had the opportunity to be adventurous and visit places we've never seen before. Our very first task was to cross the Waterloo Bridge, where we ended up at Southbank Centre. There, we saw so many exciting things, like two giant slides, a hang gliding ride, a skate park filled with colorful graffiti and much more.
From Florence, Italy:
As the days go by quickly, my adventures have been continuing throughout my journey here in Florence. I’ve been all around Italy these past two weeks I feel like I’ve barely gotten any time to sit and relax. My schedule has been jammed packed, but everything I’ve been able to do has been so worth it. This past week I planned a trip to the chocolate festival in Perugia. Yes, you read that right, it was a chocolate festival!
From Melbourne, Australia:
As a tribute to Fashion Month, I would like to share my Melbourne fashion experiences with you. Melbourne Spring Fashion week (MSFW) occurred about a month ago and it was such an experience! This was my very first official runway show and it was a night to remember.
MSFW 2015 was 7 days of complete fashion takeover in Melbourne Town Hall. However, runway shows were not the only events. Events such as Shop the City, the Emerging Designer Market, Sketchbook, and various pop-up shops provided the opportunity for fashionistas to display their style and find the new must have pieces for this spring.
From Barcelona, Spain:
Barcelona has the most unique architecture out of the counties we went to. When planning what we were going to do, the thought of going to more churches seemed a little overwhelming given we had already been to so many. However we decided to go anyway and I am so glad we did. Although La Sagrada Familia isn’t finished yet it was the most beautiful church we saw, and the architecture was so unlike anything else we saw this summer.
