Richard King, AIA, LEED AP BD+C is Managing Principal at WRT, a national collaborative practice of architects, landscape architects, and urban designers. With more than 20 years of leadership experience, Richard is recognized for his expertise in urban design, campus planning, and large-scale public building projects for clients across the United States, including Stevens Institute of Technology, Cabrini College, Duke University, and the U.S. General Services Administration.
His portfolio spans a wide range of project types, from a new university campus in North Africa to a residence hall in Pennsylvania and an engineering research center in New Jersey. Richard’s recent work also includes the master plan for the University of Pennsylvania’s Pennovation campus, new student housing and athletic facilities at Cabrini University, and a university center and academic research complex at Stevens Institute.
Richard is known for his collaborative design approach and his focus on creating dynamic social environments that celebrate the culture and identity of place. He is a sought-after speaker on the integration of design and building technology and the advancement of high-performance building envelope. His work is grounded in the belief that architecture is a collective, social process that uplifts communities and fosters shared values.
Richard serves as an adjunct instructor at Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, where he shares his expertise in design, educational programming, and high-performance buildings with the next generation of architects.
