Brandon R. Johnson is an experienced director of marketing, communications, events, and external affairs with a demonstrated history of working in the nonprofit organization management industry. As the Executive Director of Communications & Events, Brandon serves in a strategic and critical role, responsible for elevating Westphal's presence through a visual and narrative identity that communicates its unique value, strengthens community and industry relations, and serves as a foundation for improved internal and external communications.
Formerly, Brandon was the Sr. Director of External Affairs at the Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC), where he oversaw UAC’s external affairs work in marketing, communications, public relations, institutional events, board development, and supported efforts in strategic planning, fundraising, and program management. Over seven years of service, Brandon helped lead UAC from a $36M organization to $100M+, and led major institutional initiatives including: a brand refresh, expansion of its digital presence, execution of its anniversary celebration events, successful rollout of its Digital Transformation, and feeding 12,000+ people annually through its Thanksgiving Basket Program. His previous experience includes: the Center for Community Research & Service at the University of Delaware, YMCA, and AmeriCorps. Brandon serves on the board of directors for MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance).
When Brandon is not working, he enjoys supporting the arts, cheering on his alma mater and Philly sports teams, cooking, running, and exploring Philadelphia and the world with his family.
Brandon has a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) focused in Nonprofit/ Public/ Organizational Management from the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware and a B.A. from The Ohio State University.
