Tia James is the Director of Recruitment for the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design at Drexel University where she is responsible for national and international outreach efforts that support robust enrollment for the college’s eighteen undergraduate and nine graduate programs. In her role she works on recruitment strategies that result in increased applications, enrollment growth, diversity, and selectivity of incoming classes. She also serves as the Chair of the college’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Design & Merchandising, and a Master’s Degree in Arts Administration from Drexel University.
While attending Drexel University as an undergrad she had the great experience of being an assistant buyer for Burlington Coat Factory corporate offices during her co-op experience. This phenomenal experience enhanced her understanding of trends, consumer behavior, product development, and marketing. This co-op opportunity led her to pursue a career in retail buying and planning upon graduation. She worked in the corporate side of retail for 3.5 years as a buyer and associate planner for a national menswear company before returning to her Alma mater. Working to help others reach their educational and career objectives is her passion.
