John DeFazio, AIA is an architect, writer, and educator licensed in New York and New Jersey, based in Sunnyside Gardens, New York City. Practicing since 1986, DeFazio leads his own architecture, urban planning, and design practice. He holds both a Bachelor of Architectural Science and a Bachelor of Architecture from the New York Institute of Technology.

Early in his career, DeFazio worked as a design and project architect at the acclaimed Venturi Scott Brown Associates during the firm’s receipt of the AIA Firm Gold Medal. He has taught for over thirty years at institutions including Drexel University and the New York Institute of Technology. As a writer, DeFazio contributes to publications such as Art in America and Residential Design Magazine, focusing on contemporary art, architecture, and planning.

In addition to his professional and academic work, DeFazio is the founder and executive director of the Raymond Farm Center of Living Arts & Design in New Hope, PA, a regional forum for art and design, which he co-directs with Charlotte Raymond.
