Catherine Fox Byers is the Program Director for Design & Merchandising, and she teaches both introductory and upper level courses in the major. Students in her D&M classes produce the annual Drexel Fashion Show, which showcases senior and graduate work by students in the Fashion Design program. She co-teaches the classes that produce the award-winning d&m magazine annually. Her background in marketing, public relations, textiles and the footwear industry bring real-world experience to the classroom experience.
Her goals for students are to help them build a foundation on which to discover their gifts and to develop critical thinking that leads to creative contributions - in class, their careers and as part of the global community.
Prior to joining Drexel, she was Director of Marketing and Communications for Dansko, Inc., a euro-comfort footwear brand, for seven years. Her career also includes more than 20 years in marketing and communications, including 10 years at Writers, Inc., where she served as Vice President. She has received awards from the Ad Club of Delaware and from Mohawk Papers for projects at Dansko and Writers, Inc.
She holds an MA in Public Affairs Journalism from the American University, and a BA from Barnard College.
