Dr. Quistberg is an injury epidemiologist whose research has focused primarily on road safety, the built environment and global health. His current research is focused on urban health issues in Latin America. His recent work at the Harborview Injury Prevention & Research Center at the University of Washington used objective measurement tools (e.g., GIS, GPS and accelerometers) to examine how active transportation modes (e.g., walking and biking) are related to injury risks in the built environment and safety perceptions, both in the US and in Latin America. He has also recently worked on trauma care research projects using local trauma registry and electronic health record data, as well as large national databases, such as HCUP-NEDS, the NTDB, and MarketScan. His past research has examined health literacy, health disparities, teen driver safety, child passenger safety, pediatric window falls, and boating safety. He collaborates with investigators at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington as a Global Burden of Disease Expert on Injuries. He currently serves on the editorial board of the BMJ journal Injury Prevention as the Statistical Editor.
