The Drexel Fashion Design graduate program has a long standing relationship with Urban Outfitters Inc.,
the multinational lifestyle retail corporation headquartered in Philadelphia. Graduate
students may take their required internship in one of their numerous divisions. After
graduating from Drexel University in 2000, Ou Lin headed to Anthropologie for an entry level design
assistant position.
Ou Lin considers herself lucky to have landed a position at Anthropologie during the fastest growth period of the brand.
She got to work with some of the top talents in the fashion industry. Johanna Uurasjarvi, Design Director for Anthropologie then later West Elm, J. Crew and Leifsdottir, was Ou's mentor.
Under Johanna's tutelage, Ou grew into a senior designer.
After Anthropologie, Ou was chosen to be senior designer for the first collection of BHLDN,
Anthropologie's bridal brand. It was a highly novel brand of very expensive dresses, allowing
her to expand her design sensibility.
In 2016, Ou started to work at Sundance Catalog, an iconic American brand. At Sundance Catalog, she continued to
expanded her horizons by designing woven tops, skirt collections, and the
Sundance Resort collection. While at Sundance Catalog, Ou is learning much more about building a business,
earning trust from management, and gaining a larger voice in the company’s direction.
Ou tells us, “My luck all goes back to my education in Drexel. I learned how to work hard,
how to manage time well, and how to do one's best always in order to earn this beautiful title
of 'Fashion designer.' I can never thank my teachers at Drexel enough.”
