Aby Rao is a senior associate in the Information Protection and Business Resiliency group at KPMG. In this capacity, he works with various Fortune 500 companies to improve and safeguard their critical infrastructure from IT security attacks. He was awarded KPMG’s prestigious Encore award four times in the past two years for superior individual and team performance. He is a member of the Information Systems Security Association, Information Systems Audit and Control Association and Project Management Institute. He was also invited to write on various security issues and topics for the Hakin9 and PenTesting magazines.
While at Drexel University, Aby was an employee at the LeBow College of Business and also completed a Masters in Television Management. He was an adjunct professor at the College of Media and Design. He was awarded the Most Outstanding Masters Student in Arts and Humanities during the 2008-2009 academic year.
During the evenings and weekends, he moonlights as a film director and producer. His short mockumentary-style film Singhing Bee, which focused on spelling bee champions, was screened at four different national and international film festivals. He is currently developing his first narrative feature film entitled Parallel Parking, which will be shot in 2014. Several of his short documentaries were included in the programming at the Philadelphia public TV station WYBE. He is also known for his video arts collection, which was displayed at various exhibitions organized by City Without Walls Urban Gallery, Asian Arts Initiative and Kean University. He also owns a new media, film and video production company in Durham, NC called Verve Films.
In his spare time, Aby enjoys traveling and outdoor activities with his wife. He also enjoys doing volunteer work at film festivals and other organizations in Durham.
