The following timeline outlines key milestones throughout Academic Transformation.

Fall 2022 Formation of the University Advisory Committee (UAC) on Academic Structure
Summer 2023 UAC on Academic Structure makes recommendations
Preparation for Feasibility Studies
Fall 2023 Feasibility Studies Begin
Spring 2024 University embraces the UAC’s recommendations and asks for additional analysis in some areas
Fall 2024 – Summer 2025 Official launch of Academic Transformation
Design Phase begins and working groups launch
Sprint reports are shared by working groups and reviewed by Faculty Senate and Academic Council
Summer 2025 – Summer 2026 Implementation Phase Begins
Integration of operations and personnel in colleges/schools begins
Program curricula under revision
Task forces work through details of core competencies, experiential learning, and Summer 2027 transition term
Summer 2026 Program curricular revisions complete
Launch of Academic Year 2027-2028 Course Catalog with redesigned semester programs
Academic advisors start building individualized plans of study for students to guide them through the transition
Summer 2026 – Summer 2027 Courses redesigned for semester calendar
Ongoing systems and process refinements to support transformation, completed prior to launch
Seven-week transition term (June-August 2027) between quarters and semesters managed to minimize disruption
September 2026 Official launch of integrated academic units
Key systems updates begin to support the transition (e.g. Smart Plan, Canvas, Catalog)
Summer 2027 Shortened transition term leading into semester calendar
August 23, 2027 Semester calendar begins
Experiential learning becomes requirement for 2027-2028 incoming class
Implementation phase shifts into formal initiative evaluations and ongoing improvements
