Implementation Phase
Currently, faculty and professional staff members in academic and administrative units are leading implementation, supported by central coordinating teams and project managers.
Depending on the needs of each unit, academic unit leadership may include an Implementation Lead, Curricular Redesign Lead, and, in integrating units, Change Lead and Communication Leads.
In addition to academic unit leads, a group of central teams and task forces are coordinating implementation efforts, including:
- Learning Management System (LMS) Implementation Task Force
- Consistent and Effective Policies and Practices Workstream
- Cross-Cutting Teams
- Core Competencies Task Force
- Experiential Learning Opportunities (ELOs) Implementation Working Group
- Summer 2027 Transition Task Force
The names of academic unit leads and individuals on each team are available on the SharePoint site.
Visit the transformation timeline for a list of key milestones throughout Academic Transformation.
Design Phase
Prior to implementation, working groups of faculty and professional staff members in academic and administrative units were tasked with leading the design phase of Drexel's Academic Transformation.
The following workstreams produced a series of sprint reports with recommendations for implementation:
- Academic Unit Integration/Alignment
- Calendar Conversion, Curricular Structure & Core Competencies
- Consistent and Effective Policies and Practices (CEPP)
The names of workstream members and design-phase sprint reports can be found on the SharePoint site.
Background
As part of Drexel’s strategic planning process, a University Advisory Committee on Academic Structure (UACAS) was charged in November 2022 with reviewing the organization of our academic units to ensure our structure is aligned to best meet the institution’s strategic priorities.
In September 2024, Provost Paul Jensen announced plans for the University to adopt the UACAS recommendations, and the Academic Transformation initiative began.
