The Alliance will support and champion these ideas through the Innovate/Collaborate (IN/CO) Grant Program, providing grants for CAA institutions’ project teams of up to $80,000 per team over two years.

    • Resources and Draft Policy on Academic Integrity and AI

      September 20, 2023

      This summer, a Provost’s Office Working Group on developing a Policy for Academic Integrity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) was charged with i) developing an academic integrity policy pertaining to the use of AI to complement our current Academic Integrity policy and conduct process and ii) developing materials to aid students and instructors on the use of AI in the classroom. These policies and supporting materials were presented to Faculty Senate on August 15 and are currently undergoing expedited review with the Office of Compliance, Policy and Privacy Services.

    • Report on Generative AI’s Educational Impact

      August 11, 2023

      Over the winter, the Provost charged a Working Group on the Educational Impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools with investigating the implications and opportunities presented by AI and machine learning to advance Drexel’s academic mission. The group, chaired by Vice Provost for Undergraduate Curriculum and Education Steve Weber, completed its charge in June, and the full report is now available.

    • Required Reporting on Students’ Initial Course Participation

      June 22, 2023

      Under Title IV (“Student Assistance”) of the Higher Education Act of 1965, institutions of higher education are required to verify that students receiving financial aid have begun Initial Course Participation (ICP). ICP refers to the student’s attendance in class during the term for which they are receiving financial aid. The new ICP process requires that instructors verify whether each enrolled student has begun attendance in a course.

      As Dean Ana Diez Roux, MD, MPH, prepares to step down as the Dana and David Dornsife Dean of the Dornsife School of Public Health to continue and expand her work as a faculty member, Gina Lovasi, PhD, MPH, will be appointed interim dean as of September 1. Dr. Lovasi is associate dean for education, Dornsife Associate Professor of Urban Health and the former co-director of the Urban Health Collaborative. Her research agenda draws on both large datasets and local systematic data collection to address urban health challenges around health disparities, cardiovascular disease and geographic environments.

      The Academic Calendar has been adjusted so that the Fall Quarter 2023 will now start on Tuesday, September 26. Several other academic calendar dates have also been adjusted, including the deadlines to resolve financial holds, add/drop and withdraw from courses.
