Welcome to a new academic year! Campus has once again come alive with fall term classes and events, and with it a chance to reconnect to the sense of purpose that brought us to Drexel. Personally, I’m inspired by the way our efforts across this University fuel a better, more valuable experience for our students, and I am deeply grateful to the faculty and professional staff who bring their passion and expertise to make the incredible work of this University possible.
Danuta A. Nitecki to Step Down as Dean of the Drexel University Libraries
After 14 years of distinguished service to Drexel, Danuta A. Nitecki, PhD, will step down from her role as Dean of the University Libraries in January 2024, prior to retiring from Drexel.
Changes to Withdrawal Options During Co-op
An updated policy, Course and Co-Op Withdrawal (PO-25), has been approved and will take effect with the upcoming fall/winter co-op cycle.
Sharon Walker Reappointed as Dean of the College of Engineering
Sharon Walker, PhD, has been reappointed dean of the College of Engineering. Dean Walker was up for reappointment after completing her five-year term.
Resources and Draft Policy on Academic Integrity and AI
This summer, a Provost’s Office Working Group on developing a Policy for Academic Integrity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) was charged with i) developing an academic integrity policy pertaining to the use of AI to complement our current Academic Integrity policy and conduct process and ii) developing materials to aid students and instructors on the use of AI in the classroom. These policies and supporting materials were presented to Faculty Senate on August 15 and are currently undergoing expedited review with the Office of Compliance, Policy and Privacy Services.
