Noelle Lemon

Drexel faculty mentors: Donald Tibbs, Rose Corrigan, Daniel Filler

Noelle Lemon graduated cum laude from Drexel’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law in May 2018 and sat for the Pennsylvania Bar exam in July. She was selected by Equal Justice Works to join its new Crime Victims Justice Corps Fellowship program and is among 45 fellows across the U.S. who will provide legal services to victims of human trafficking. Noelle is based at HIAS Pennsylvania, a public interest organization in Philadelphia that provides legal and supportive services to immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.

Noelle’s passion for justice and public service led her to law school at Drexel as recipient of the merit-based Rising Advocate Scholarship. Throughout her studies, Noelle was able to pursue her interests through a variety of internships and practicum experiences. Noelle interned at the National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women, a resource and advocacy center for victims of abuse charged with crimes related to their experiences of battering, which deepened her knowledge of survivor-centered, trauma-informed advocacy. Throughout her second year at school Noelle participated in an International Human Rights Advocacy clinic in coordination with the New York City Bar Association’s International Human Rights Committee where she gained further education about human rights, including a focus on refugees. In her final year Noelle completed a practicum at The Pennsylvania Innocence Project where she learned to identify, investigate, and litigate cases where individuals were convicted of crimes they did not commit. Noelle also has an interest in the rapidly expanding field of Cyberlaw and was recognized in Cybercrime with a CALI Award given to the highest performing student in the class.

Noelle completed her undergraduate degree at West Chester University in 2015. She graduated from the Honors College summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies, focused on Spanish and professional education. While finishing her undergraduate degree, Noelle worked as a bilingual assistant for an immigration lawyer where she focused primarily on asylum cases for unaccompanied minors from Central America. She found being of service to those in need of legal assistance very rewarding and looks forward to continuing that work in her bilingual fellowship position at HIAS.

Noelle is very thankful for the mentorship she received from many members of the Drexel faculty including Dr. Donald Tibbs, Professor Rose Corrigan, and Dean Daniel Filler.
