About Me

Luke Mitchell (Neuroscience, PhD, ’19) is a first-year graduate student pursuing a PhD in neuroscience with the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies at DUCOM. His work in the lab of Dr. Barry Waterhouse is implemented in the rat model and centers on exploring the roll of norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter, in focusing and maintaining attention. This method will hopefully enable scientists to promote prolonged periods of attentiveness and even offer the potential for clinical translation for individuals who have either deficits in their attentional capacities or unusually high demands regularly placed on their attentional faculties (e.g. air traffic controllers).
