About Me

Drexel Faculty Mentors: Dr. Yury Gogotsi; Dr. Caroline Schauer

Alexander McBride first conducted research at Drexel in the 10th grade, working on organic photovoltaics under the guidance of Dr. Caroline Schauer. He is interested in leveraging photonics, a study dedicated to light-matter interaction, to solve some of our most pressing energy and environmental challenges. Alex was the president of both the Drexel Smart House and Drexel Students for Christ in 2015-16 and remains an active member of both organizations. Alex conducted research in Germany through the iSTAR program in 2013 and worked at the University of Oulu in Finland in 2014 as a Paul Peck Scholar. Alex completed a Spring/Summer 2016 co-op with Merck KGaA in Germany, focused on organic LED (OLED) materials for display applications.

Alexander received a Drexel Fellowships Ambassador award in 2016.
