The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program is an 11-week paid summer internship for students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students work with NIST scientists to conduct research in NIST laboratories in Boulder, Colorado; Gaithersburg, Maryland; and Waimanalo, Hawaii. Students must apply separately for each location. A list of participating laboratories and research projects can be found on the program website.
