Chevening Scholarships are part of the UK government’s global scholarship program. They enable outstanding emerging leaders from all over the world to pursue one-year master’s degrees in the UK. The program provides full funding for a Master's degree in any subject and at any UK university.
Who Should Apply?
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country (US, UK, and EU citizens are not eligible to apply), and intend to return there for a minimum of 2 years after your Chevening Award has finished.
- Hold a bachelor's degree by the time of application.
- Have completed a combination of at least two years of work experience before applying. This includes full or part-time employment, voluntary work, and paid or unpaid internships.
- Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from at least one by mid-July prior to the start of the award.
- Not have previously studied in the UK under a UK government-funded scholarship.
How to Apply
The Chevening Scholarship program does not require university endorsement, but Drexel applicants, including alumni, are encouraged to seek support on their application from UREP.
Step 1: Submit an Intent to Apply Form
Deadline: May 15
Students and Drexel alumni who are interested in applying should submit an Intent to Apply form to set up a meeting with a fellowships advisor to discuss the program and any steps you can take now to become a more competitive candidate.
Qualified students who submit an Intent to Apply form by May 15 each year will work closely with a fellowships advisor and experienced Drexel faculty/staff, who will help the candidate clarify goals and values, assist with application details, and advise on the application.
Candidates who submit an Intent to Apply form after May 15 are not guaranteed the same level of advising but are still welcome to apply.
Step 2: Prepare Your Application
Chevening applicants must apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by the final application deadline in November.
Applicants must supply names and contact information for two referees who will be required to submit references if the applicant advances and becomes a shortlisted candidate.
Outside of the references and proof of admission to an eligible UK graduate program, application requirements vary depending on country of citizenship. Details are available in the individual country application portals, which open in September.
Step 3: Application Deadline: November
Candidates must submit their applications by the deadline listed on the Chevening website. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview and submit references and education documents such as transcripts. UREP will coordinate mock interviews for any students called for a finalist interview. Results are announced in June.
