AAMFT Minority Fellowship Program
The AAMFT Research & Education Foundation is dedicated to increasing the pool of culturally competent marriage and family therapist researchers, teachers, and practitioners, who will increase mental health and substance abuse services to racial and ethnic minority populations and underrepresented populations.
The AAMFT MFP offers three fellowships:
- Dissertation Completion Fellowship (DCF): For doctoral students at the dissertation stage of their curriculum;
- Doctoral Fellowship Program (DFP): For doctoral students still in the process of completing pre dissertation core curriculum;
- Minority Fellowship Program (MFP-Youth Fellowship): For masters students interested in service provision to the nation’s youth as they transition into adulthood (ages 16-25).
Program details, applications, and eligibility criteria vary.
Other AAMFT Graduate Awards include:
- Graduate Student Research Award: funding to assist graduate students in the completion of their thesis or dissertation pertaining to couples and family therapy or family therapy training.
- Diversity Scholarship for Emerging Leaders: scholarships to students who are from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, Hispanic, Latino/a, or Spanish origin, LGBT, bi/multilingual, or an individual with one or more disability.
