The STAR Scholars Program isn't just about research — it can give you a chance to explore a new career path, build community with like-minded people, or even travel abroad! Learn more about our smaller programs within STAR, which give you a full-time research experience with an added component: the Drexel DREAM (Diversity, Research, Experiential Learning, Aging Science, and Mentorship) Scholars Program aims to promote diversity in the biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research workforce in aging research; the Velay Fellows program aims to promote and build community among women in STEM; and the iSTAR Scholars program allows students to participate in research abroad at partner international institutions. Are you interested in research or graduate study abroad? The Fulbright US Student Program provides grants for one year of research, graduate study, or teaching English in 140+ countries. In the past, several Drexel medical students and biomedical graduate students have received the grant and spent a year doing research abroad, either in conjunction with their graduate research or as an EDGE year for between MD years 3 and 4.  This info session will provide details about the program, the Drexel application process, and tips for crafting a competitive application. Students from outside of DUCOM are welcome to attend and will still find the session useful.

Nerd Night @ Drexel U is a quarterly event sponsored by Undergraduate Research & Enrichment Programs. This event features three informal talks by Drexel students about their research or other topics of interest. In between talks there are rounds of trivia. Come nerd out with us!

The Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) provide grants of up to $7,000 to support American undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who are planning to study overseas in East or Southeast Asia. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents with a minimum GPA of 2.8, planning to spend at least 8 weeks in one of the following countries: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam. This session will discuss a number of highly selective awards that fund graduating seniors and recent alumni to pursue graduate study abroad, including Fulbright, Marshall, Rhodes, Mitchell, Gates Cambridge, NIH Ox/Cam, Schwarzman, and McCall MacBain Scholarships.
