This info session will cover the eligibility rules, selection criteria, nomination requirements, and application process for the Barry Goldwater Scholarship. The Goldwater Scholarship recognizes undergraduates committed to careers as leaders in scientific research, with awards of up to $7500 annually for up to two years. The Goldwater is open to undergraduates with 1-2 years of undergraduate study remaining after the current academic year; you must be a US Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident to apply. DAAD RISE provides funding for STEM undergraduates at US institutions (regardless of citizenship) to pursue a summer research internship in Germany. Knowledge of German language is not required. You may have heard about fellowships, scholarships, and awards that require you to apply for nomination, like the Goldwater, Truman, or Udall Scholarships. These are competitive opportunities for which Drexel is only permitted to put forward a limited number of nominees for the national competition pool, which means we have to conduct an internal application process to choose students to nominate. This session will introduce fellowships that provide language training opportunities, both in the US and abroad: the Critical Language Scholarships and the Boren Awards. Eligibility is limited to US citizens. Available languages include Arabic, Mandarin, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Turkish, Russian, Hindi and more. We will discuss the details of each award, the application process, and tips for submitting a strong application.
