Two students were nominated for the Graduate Students Award for the Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates for Economics. Delina Agnosteva and Thomas Zylkin are both PhD students in Economics.

About the Nominees:

Delina is interested in international trade and industrial organization. She has been researching the gravity model of trade and its numerous applications, estimation of trade costs, international cartels and their impact on trade, and the link between multi-market contact, trade liberalization, and cartel stability. (PIs: Drs. Yoto Yotov and Constantinos Syropoulos)

Tom is a doctoral student in Economics studying international trade, armed conflict, and the relationships between the two. This past year, his joint work with Dr. Constantinos Syropoulos on the causes of civil conflict was awarded the LeBow College of Business's Outstanding Economics Stream Research Award.  He has presented his research at the University of Michigan, Yale University, and The University of Exeter (UK) among others.
  

About Lindau:

The Lindau Award selects a group of top young researchers from around the world to attend the annual meeting with the Nobel Laureates in picturesque Lindau, Germany. At the meeting, there are opportunities for both formal and informal interaction between the Laureates and the young researchers. This year’s meeting will focus on Economics. Lindau Award recipients are nominated and selected by the sponsoring agencies and organizations.

Last year, Drexel student Kristy Jost (Materials Science and Engineering) attended Lindau for the meeting on Chemistry. The year before, Eric Davis (ChemEng) went for the Physics meeting.
