Drexel University Remembers

Drexel students, faculty and professional staff joined the nation in commemorating the 10th anniversary of the tragic events on September 11, with a University tribute to those lost on that day, including two Drexel alumni.

Drexel President John A. Fry led the tribute in the Great Court of the University’s Main Building where attendees observed a moment of silence for those lost that day and those who survived but were forever changed.

On behalf of the Drexel community, Fry displayed a wreath at the center of the Court in honor of the victims and the two Drexel alumni who died in the attacks—Timothy P. Soulas ’89 and Charles E. Sabin ’69.

Soulas was director of Cantor Fitzgerald's foreign currency desk in New York. He is survived by his wife and their six children. Sabin died in the attack on the Pentagon. He had worked at the Defense Intelligence Agency since 1981 and was planning his retirement. He is survived by his two sons and grandchildren.

Members of the Drexel community will also have the opportunity to pay their respects to the victims by writing messages on a banner that will be on display in the lobby of the University’s Rec Center through Sept. 15 and on Drexel’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/drexeluniv
