Calhoun High School.Kara Spiller, who conducted research in Shanghai this year, will conduct research in tissue engineering at the University of Minho in Guimaraes, Portugal. She will be a member of the Biomaterials, Biodegradables and Biomimetics Research Group. The site is also the headquarters of the European Institute of Excellence on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. Spiller expressed excitement working for a world-renowned tissue engineering laboratory. She grew up in the EastFalls/Germantown area of Philadelphia and attended Mt. St. Joseph Academy. Kent Troutman studied in Beijing earlier this year and will travel back to China to one of its leading financial universities, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Sichuan provenance, to study interest rate policies that would allow microfinance to be an effective poverty-alleviation tool.
