New Property Management Degree Program Satisfies Industry Demand

May 5, 2009

In response to a changing real estate climate along with the projected growth within the property management industry, Drexel University’s Goodwin College of Professional Studies announces two new Property Management degree programs designed to help professionals become creative, forward-thinking leaders educated in the latest industry trends. Drexel University now offers Bachelor of Science and Master’s of Science degrees in Property Management as well as undergraduate credit certificates in Residential Property Management and Commercial Property Management, with classes beginning fall 2009.

Drexel’s Customized Learning Solutions team worked closely with national and regional real estate associations to develop the curriculum for these degree programs, both of which address the need for university-educated property management professionals. The new programs, offered by the Multidisciplinary and Emerging Programs (MEP) area of Goodwin College, demonstrate Drexel’s commitment to creating customized education programs in response to today’s changing business trends.

As published in the Occupational Outlook Handbook (2008-09 edition), the employment of property, real estate and community association managers is projected to increase by 15 percent during the next decade, creating a demand for more experienced, better educated professionals.

Drexel’s Bachelor of Science in Property Management includes a minor in business and allows students to focus on specific areas of study within the property management field, offering concentrations in Residential Housing Management, Affordable Housing Management, Housing for an Aging Population and Commercial Property Management.

The M.S. degree program stresses strategic decision-making and provides students with interactive, experiential learning opportunities involving research and analysis.

Both degrees are offered online. The online learning method for this program is designed to challenge and engage students while remaining convenient for working professionals.
