Drexel Supports Annual Holiday Party For Homeless Hosted by City Councilwoman Blackwell

On Thursday, December 18, 2008, Councilwoman Jannie L. Blackwell, Chair of City Council’s Education Committee and the Committee on Housing, Neighborhood Development, and the Homeless, will host her 9th Annual Holiday Party for the Homeless at the Pennsylvania Convention Center located at 11th & Arch Streets from 3 to 7 p.m. This year’s celebration is expected to attract some 3,500 residents from the City’s family shelter system, the majority of whom are children under the age of 14. Over 100 volunteers from the West Philadelphia community will serve a traditional holiday home cooked meal prepared by KeVen Parker, award winner of 3801 Café, and owner of Simply Delicious Catering and Ms. Tootsie’s Soulfood Café. Face painting will be available for children and because of the generous support from our sponsors each child will receive a gift from Santa!
