Computer vision technology being developed by researchers in the College of Engineering and Academy of Natural Sciences, to help identify invasive Spotted Lanternfly egg masses, was featured in a Dec. 24 Scientific American story. Maureen Tang, PhD, and Antonios Kontsos, PhD, of the College of Engineering, and Karen Verderame, of the Academy, were quoted in the piece.

Joseph Amon, PhD, a clinical professor and director of the Office of Global Health at the Dornsife School of Public Health, was quoted in a Dec. 21 WHYY.org article that reflected on the shortcomings to our Nation’s COVID-19 response in 2020.

The Dornsife School of Public Health was featured Dec. 3 in stories published by The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Tribune and Philly Voice about a $9 million gift from alumna Dana Dornsife and her husband David that will help establish a Center on Racism and Health, recruit and retain faculty experts on racial inequities in health and endow the deanship for public health. Students in Jushchyshyn’s lab are creating an immersive digital environment. The musicians each recorded themselves at home with green screens, then those individual performances are assembled together into a 3D digital environment, made to look like a snowy mountainside.
