COVID-19 Guidelines for Campus Visitors
The following message on visitors coming to campus this fall was sent to the Drexel community.
Summary
- Being on Drexel’s campus during the COVID-19 pandemic requires careful attention to safety procedures — whether you’re a student, employee, or visitor. Visit the Response to Coronavirus site for the most up-to-date guidelines.
- To reduce risk to our community, Drexel will require visitors to campus facilities to obtain the new Drexel Health Checker Visitor Pass prior to coming to campus.
- Programs that bring visitors to campus are responsible for informing them of the pass system and for having a system in place to ensure review of passes.
- Any student, employee, or visitor who is not feeling well should not come to campus.
Dear Drexel Students and Colleagues,
Congratulations on a successful campus move-in and start of the fall quarter! Currently, approximately 96 percent of our campus community is fully vaccinated, and exempted persons are participating in a regular testing program. As communicated in recent student and employee town halls, Drexel employs a layered approach to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection. The approach includes indoor masking, vaccination, healthy ventilation, a tailored testing strategy and robust case investigation with contact tracing.
As some programs return to pre-pandemic levels of activity, we want to clarify Drexel’s policies on visitors. Being together in person during a pandemic has become a privilege made possible by careful adherence to public health guidelines.
Visitors Must Check In and Bring Proof of Vaccination
As of today, all visitors to Drexel campus facilities must obtain a Drexel Health Checker Visitor Pass before they are allowed in campus spaces. This applies to anyone who is not a student or employee (anyone without a current Drexel email address) who will be entering any Drexel building or attending a Drexel indoor event on any campus- including parents, volunteers, guest lecturers, spectators attending games or performances, and campus or student organization program participants. In general, programs will ask visitors to use the pass system before coming to indoor campus event and programs are responsible to check for the pass when visitors arrive. This system is designed to reduce the risk of infection or exposure among our visitors and campus community.
How It Works
All visitors must access the Drexel Health Checker Visitor Pass online 24 hours or less before arriving on campus, attest to being fully vaccinated and answer health screening questions. If they attest to being fully vaccinated, with no symptoms, no recent positive COVID-19 test, and no exposures to COVID-19, they will receive a Green Pass to show on request at University events and locations. In addition to a Green Pass, visitors should bring proof of vaccination and personal ID in case particular programs check this information prior to admission. Visitors who do not receive a Green Pass must NOT come to campus.
Visitors currently not eligible for vaccine due to their young age are still welcome on campus, following our minors policy, as long as they wear a mask and abide by the program procedures. Visitors must not come to campus if they have any symptoms of COVID-19. For more on Drexel’s visitor guidelines, view our Visitors and Events page.
Please Don’t Come to Campus if You Feel Sick
We ask visitors not to come to campus if they are ill, and we ask the same thing of members of our campus community. Even if you are vaccinated, and even if you do not have a known exposure, it’s far better to be safe than sorry when dealing with COVID-19. Please do not come to campus if you are experiencing any COVID-like symptoms at all and be sure to record your symptoms on the Drexel Health Checker. Remember that even if your symptoms are mild, the person you transmit COVID-19 to could end up becoming severely ill.
Thank you for making sure that you and your program guests are helping to reduce the risk of COVID-19 on campus. We owe it to our Drexel community and our neighbors throughout West Philadelphia to be vigilant. Remember, you can always find the most up-to-date guidelines on the Response to Coronavirus website.
Thank you for your continued partnership in reducing the risk of infection among our campus community.
