Dear Members of the Drexel Community,

After a comprehensive national search, I am pleased to announce that Jacquelyn Malcolm Bailey, EdD (BS '97), will join Drexel University as Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective June 1, 2026.

As Drexel's CIO, Dr. Bailey will lead enterprise-wide information technology strategy and operations, shaping a forward-looking IT vision that advances the University's strategic priorities of academic excellence, student success, research and innovation, and financial resilience. With her broad expertise spanning technology, legal, marketing, communications, and enrollment strategy, as well as her deep understanding of and commitment to Drexel's mission as an alumna with longstanding ties to the University, I am confident that she is well positioned to lead Drexel at this important moment.

Dr. Bailey is an enterprise technology strategist and higher education business architect whose career reflects the power of integrative leadership across the full institutional ecosystem. Her work is grounded in advancing student success, academic excellence, research, and operational excellence. With more than two decades of executive experience, she has led transformation at scale, most recently as Vice Chancellor of Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System is the fourth-largest higher education system in the nation, where Dr. Bailey managed a core team of 130 IT professionals and oversaw enterprise technology strategy for 33 institutions and 54 campuses serving more than 270,000 students and 14,000 employees. Her work included leading the largest enterprise resource planning implementation in the system's history through the deployment of Workday, modernizing the institution's identity and access management system, directing the creation of its first data lakehouse, and championing the adoption of its first comprehensive cybersecurity framework aligned with National Institute of Standards and Technology guidelines.

Dr. Bailey previously held senior leadership positions at Buffalo State University, The Catholic University of America, and Delaware State University. A recognized thought leader, she has spoken and written on topics such as AI governance, digital transformation, and institutional equity. She currently serves on the LeBow College of Business Marketing Advisory Board and has held numerous additional leadership and advisory roles, including chair of the Minnesota Learning Network Board and member of the EDUCAUSE CIO Program Advisory Committee.

Dr. Bailey earned her bachelor's degree from Drexel University, a master's from George Washington University, a doctorate from Delaware State University, and most recently, an executive juris doctorate from Purdue University Global.

I want to thank the search committee, chaired by Executive Vice Provost for Research and Innovation Aleister Saunders, PhD, and LeBow College of Business Dean Vibhas Madan, PhD, for their thoughtful and dedicated work throughout this process and for assembling a strong and diverse pool of candidates. I am also deeply grateful to Associate Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer Pablo Molina, DLS, for his strong and steady leadership as Interim CIO over the past year, providing continuity and momentum during a critical period for the University.
