Drexel University welcomed its largest-ever incoming class to campus the weekend of Sept. 15–16 during move-in weekend with the help of family, friends, faculty, staff, alumni and volunteers.
Due to the size of recent freshmen classes and construction on and around campus, move-in was bumped up to two days for the first time this year. MacKenzie Luke, PhD, executive director of Student Life, said 97 percent of those with room assignments in the incoming class of more than 3,300 moved in over the course of the past weekend.
“I would look at this move-in weekend as a success,” she said.
Luke also noted that more than 200 people from the Drexel community volunteered to help ensure that the entire process went smoothly, which is very important.
“Move-in is our first impression with a lot of those families,” she said. “Making sure that everything goes smoothly, that they can feel comfortable leaving their students here, is realty critical.”
