Dean's Scholars Program In the Dean’s Scholars Program, successful upper-level students provide supplemental instruction to first-year students in Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law and Torts. The Dean’s Scholars work closely with Nancy Kraybill, associate professor of law and director of academic skills, and the professors teaching the doctrinal courses to develop and present material to first year students during weekly structured study sessions. Each of the Dean's Scholars hold weekly office hours to provide personalized instructions to students. The Dean’s Scholars sessions and office hours serve as a bridge between the Academic Skills Workshops, offered to first year students by Professor Kraybill, and the 1L doctrinal classes. In the sessions, the Dean’s Scholars use hands-on exercises to review course material and to help first-year students prepare for class, take notes, create course outlines and write exam answers. Dean’s Scholars sessions begin during the second week of classes each semester and continue through the last week of classes. The sessions are open to all first-year students.
