Professor Gwen Roseman Stern was featured on episode 14 of “Unscripted Direct,” a podcast about trial advocacy education hosted by UCLA Law’s Justin Bernstein and Berkley Law’s Spencer Pahlke. Bernstein was associate director of trial advocacy and an assistant professor at Kline Law from 2017 to 2018.
In the interview, which starts at the 56 minute mark, Stern talks about her decision to pursue a legal career as an undergraduate at the University of Maryland, where she had her own legal radio show. She also recounts the moment when she knew that Kline Law was a trial advocacy law school (not just a law school with a trial advocacy program). Finally, she tells the story of how she met her late husband, Andy Stern, in the library at Temple University, where the two attended law school, and opens up about his life and her loss, and how returning to teach her law students this fall—and being candid with them—has revitalized her.
