The Denver Post looked to Professor David S. Cohen on the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to strike down a Massachusetts law that prohibits protesters from coming within 35 feet of an abortion clinic.  

According to the Post, the decision established that the Massachusetts law violated protestors freedom of speech since the 35-foot restrictive zone often spills on public spaces such as sidewalks. 

Some questioned whether the decision would affect laws in other states. Professor Cohen, who frequently comments on abortion issues, said the Supreme Court's ruling on the Massachusetts law should have no bearing on a similar Colorado law which also imposes a buffer zone on abortion clinics in that state.  The Supreme Court previously evaluated the Colorado law in Hill. v. Colorado and found it to be constitutional, Cohen said.  Since the Supreme Court did not specifically overrule it in the Massachusetts decision, the Colorado law should remain viable, he concluded.
