As more and more people turn to their local pharmacy for a flu shot, the American Public Media Marketplace and WHYY (audio) turned to Professor Robert Field, a nationally recognized public health expert, for his thoughts on drug-store administered vaccines like the flu shot.
Field commented that the proliferation of drug-store administered vaccines is a good thing that will ultimately keep health care costs down. "First, it's going to improve access to the system. Secondly, you are going to have lower cost providers offering basic services that you don't really need a physician for," he added.
