The September issue of the ABA Journal features Professor Karl Okamoto on its annual list of leading thinkers in changing legal practice and education it calls “Legal Rebels.” 

Okamoto was chosen for putting “the transactional-training movement on steroids” by creating LawMeets, the first competition anywhere to test law students’ deal-making skills. 

The journal noted the success of LawMeets, which grew from a 10-team single-site competition in 2010 to a 74-team contest in six regions by 2013.  The article also cites the creation of the IP LawMeet competition, which focuses on transactions that involve intellectual property.
