Following the Boy Scouts of America's release of confidential files revealing approximately 20,000 allegations of sexual abuse from 1965 to 1985, Associate Dean Daniel Filler commented on the effect such revelation may have on the organization in the Christian Science Monitor. 

"This is a blowout that will have ripple effects in many directions,”  Filler said.  Filler expects the details of the files to affect everything from fundraising to membership. 

The release of the information also leaves the Boy Scouts of America vunerable to lawsuits, Filler added.  This could result in a severe financial impact on the organization if the organization gets involved in settling old cases, Filler said.

Filler, a former public defender, studies the effects of social anxiety on the development of criminal law.
