Professor Anil Kalhan was a presenter at the Fifth Biennial Emerging Immigration Scholars Conference at Brigham Young University Law School on June 8.
Kalhan appeared on a panel that explored “New Frontiers in Immigration Law Scholarship,” joining professors Michael Kagan of the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Law, Sarah Lamdan of the City University of New York School of Law and Emily Ryo of the University of Southern California School of Law.
Kalhan discussed the value of social media for law faculty and potential threats to academic freedom that immigration law professors could face in scholarship, public engagement and choices regarding clinic representation.
A recognized authority on immigration law, Kalhan focuses his scholarship on U.S. and comparative constitutional law, international human rights law, privacy and surveillance, criminal law and South Asian studies.
