Michelle Streifthau-Livizos and Savannah Merceus were crowned winners of the First Annual Nell Hennessy Moot Court Competition, sponsored by the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.
In addition to winning the competition, Streifthau-Livizos, a 3L, and Merceus, a 2L, also won the award for Best Brief. In addition, Streifthau-Livizos was named Top Oralist in the competition.
The students were coached by Professor Norman Stein and attorney Matan Shmuel of Saul Ewing.
The competition focused on cutting-edge issues in employee benefits involving the prudence of socially responsible investment options for 401(k) and 403(b) plans.
The competition was held on Feb. 24 at Catholic University Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C.
